New Zealand physiotherapy group Physio Rehab Group is using mobile technology to give them the competitive edge in the treatment of high performance athletes.

The Group has seven Auckland physio clinics, satellite clinics at Mt Ruapehu during the ski season, and physiotherapists touring on assignment throughout New Zealand and overseas.

The Group is using Telecom's EV-DO cellular network in New Zealand to securely access patient information whether they are on a ski slope, a rugby field, or backstage at a ballet performance.

"Our clients in New Zealand can range from the Samoan Sevens to a French ballet company to an international rock band - essentially anyone who is doing something physically demanding," Physio Rehab Group chief executive Karen Sutton says. "To help our people working at our satellite clinics or travelling, we give them a laptop with Telecom Mobile Broadband so they can link to our central computer system over a secure network," says Karen.

"That means they have access to the latest patients notes which they can update on the spot, they can complete ACC forms and lodge them, and also email doctors or specialists to make patient referrals.
